Ways of joining the band in 2011! Spennymoor Town Hall

There are two ways of joining the Youth Band:-

In term-time, come along to the Youth Band rehearsal on Monday evening (7.00pm - 8.30p.m. ) in Spennymoor Town Hall , meet the Bandmaster,  George Nicklin, and discuss with him the instrument you already play or the new instrument you would like to learn.
(Enter via the red door near the arch under the Town Hall clock)

Out-of-term
Contact the Youth Band Secretary,
Dr. John Chapman, by website email enquiries@spennymooryouthbrassband.org and we can discuss what you'd like to do and when the next rehearsals will be held.

If you already know who plays in the Youth Band, it would be best to come along with your friend, who can introduce you to the Bandmaster.

Rehearsals
Youth Band rehearsals start at 7p.m. prompt on Monday evenings in school term-time, going on for 1½ hours with a short break at 8p.m.

Subscriptions
There is a half-termly sub of £15.00, which you or your parents can pay to the Treasurer at the first rehearsal after the school holidays. Cheques or cash but not credit cards (yet)!

Lessons
It is part of the Bandmaster's role to provide lessons to anyone in the Youth Band whose musical progress suggests it. Youth Band lessons last for 20- 30 minutes, with a rota agreed between the Bandmaster and the player for Mondays and Tuesdays (5.30p.m. - 7p.m. ). It is very important that any player unable to attend their lesson gets in touch with the Bandmaster to let him know at least one day before the missed lesson.

Missed lessons cost the Youth Band financially and if you repeatedly miss music lessons without warning, the Youth Band reserves the right to cancel your 'free to members' music lessons.
